'Durga-puja' was held on October 7, 8 & 9, 2022 at Devon Community Centre.
Our 2022 Durga-Puja was celebrated on October 7 to 9 (Friday to Sunday) at Devon Community Centre (20 Haven Ave, Devon, AB T9G 2B9, Canada)

What an amazing 'Durga-puja'and our way of celebration it was after a gap of 2 years! From pujo to decoration, from foods to cultural programs - everything was just perfect and awesome...full of pure entertainment. Your spontaneous presence made the event so bright and colourful. We should admit that the attendance for each day was way beyond our estimation. Those 3 days brought so much joy to all of us. Yes, this is 'Krishti' , which means "rich culture".

We would like to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to make our biggest event of the year a grand success. We would like to thank all our sponsors, donors, advertisers, performers & of-course, our audience. We also welcome so many new members to the 'Krishti' family...a big round of applause for all of them. Another big round of applause for all our 'out-of-city' friends (Ft Mc was leading in this case, of-course!). We have received so much positive feedback from so many people and we should admit that we are overwhelmed with those.

  • Our new venue, Devon Community Center, is just 15-20 min additional driving from our previous years' venue. Due to the unavailability of Sejong hall and to be part of the biggest annual celebration of the Bengalis, we all can make this small adjustment.
  • We have an 'EARLY BIRD' event fee option this year. By Sep 30, you have the opportunity to save some money for you and your family, but will have the same experience and share in pujo, entertainment, foods etc. If you miss it, you have to pay regular event fees, No Exception please! FYI, we will provide wrist bands this year for all attendees.
  • Evening Puja will start at 6 PM (Sharp) on all 3 days followed by the cultural program -> dinner -> guest artists (Sanchari Bose on Friday & Vishwajeet Borwankar on Saturday). This year, we will maintain the scheduled time for puja & programs on all 3 days. So please be on time to support this effort. Your late arrival will delay all activities including pujo, programs, serving dinner, guest artist's performance etc. etc. Day Pujo (Saturday & Sunday) will start at 11 AM followed by lunch.
  • Besides the puja rituals & new clothing, food plays a very important role in our biggest celebration. Keeping Krishti's reputation in mind for the last few years, we have planned for some attractive food menus for all 3 days.

We are sure that unlimited entertainment, fun, and food will make this year a memorable one for us, no doubt. We all went through so much tension, frustration, restriction for more than the last 2 years; now please come forward to enjoy it to the fullest. Round the year, Krishti's dedicated volunteers work very hard to plan and present the events to you successfully and smoothly. Please come out to help, support and encourage each other so that we all can work as a family here. Thanks to our donors, sponsors and advertisers whose continuous financial support helps us to provide this higher level of services at a very reasonable event fee.

Also, our appreciation extends to the sponsors whose gracious contributions helped us a lot. One more time we would like to thank the participants who RSVPed, which really helped us to do the proper estimation. However, if you have any suggestions for the next year's picnic or any other future events, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@krishti.ca. Your comments are very valuable to us.

'Durga-Puja 2021' was CANCELED due to the current pandemic situation.

We are extremely sorry that we had to CANCEL this year's Durga Puja due to the current pandemic situation in our province. We did try our best to measure all the possibilities of hosting the event and after a careful review of the guidelines and restrictions currently in place, we had no other option but to take this heartbreaking decision. But we printed and published our 2021 annual magazine and we have delivered the copy of the magazine to our members who paid their annual membership by Oct 7. We have published the family photos of the members' who already provided the photos and gave consent to do so. We are also collecting 2021-2022 membership fees ($40/family & $20/single). To pay both, please e-transfer to info@krishti.ca or mail a chq (payable to KRISHTI) to 15848 13 Ave SW; Edmonton, AB, T6W 2N5, Canada. Please mention your email address in the e-transfer or write it on the chq so that we can email you the official receipt in time. We did a virtual puja this year along with a live telecast of the event so that willing members could offer 'Anjali' from their homes. Here is the FB page in case you missed watch video

It was not a perfect day in Devon Lions Campground, mixed with clouds & rain, but participation of around 100 people including children, a very desirable mixture of youth and old, dancing, continuous sports, games, races, excellent food throughout the day ending with a BBQ dinner. It was wonderful to see that the children along with their parents/families were loving, enjoying, and performing the various sports/events arranged by our youth secretary, Ritvik Das. Thank you for your participation, cooperation, help and enthusiasm to make Krishti's 2021 annual picnic a super success. Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors for their continuous help & support.
